The Attorney General’s Chambers is an extra ministerial department under the Office of the President and is headed by the Attorney General. The role of the Attorney General is defined in section 51 of the Constitution of Botswana as the Principal Legal Adviser to the Government.

The Attorney General’s Chambers recurrent budget for the financial year 2024/25 will increase with P31 million from the current financial year budget.
Justice minister, Mr Machana Shamukuni revealed this when requesting Parliament to approve the Attorney General’s Chambers recurrent budget of P360.6 million .
The current financial year budget allocation was P328.9 million.
